Flexible Packaging

Flexible Packaging

(Pouch or Roll Form)

Introduction

Flexible pouches are single-use bags commonly made of combinations of different materials like polyester film, LDPE, BOPP, aluminum layer, plastic, etc. They are used for packing everything from snack foods to industrial liquids and are commonly found on supermarket shelves across the globe.

We can also provide Flexibles Rolls (laminated printed rolls), which can be made in pouches at a manufacturing facility.

The manufacturing for flexible packaging involves various steps:

  • Design Process Making sure to provide careful consideration to the design process is one of the most crucial steps. Here's where you gather all the specs from your customers to make sure everything is correct before production starts. Adding their brand name, address, and the sizes they like to work with are possible examples of specifications. You can save the frustration of having to start over from scratch if you complete this beforehand and your client is not happy. When you finish the design, the client should accept it so that the remaining procedures can proceed more smoothly.
  • Cylinder Making Process The cylinder printing process is essential seeing as it provides the dye required for the manufacturing process. Each cylinder is meant to provide a certain color that you can work with. This goes to show that the number of cylinders being produced will depend on the design earlier created. You have to ensure that you get all the colors settled upon in the design stage and create the cylinders you’ll use. For some manufacturers, you’ll find that these cylinders are offered to the clients after the process is done. If that’s not the case, if the same client goes back for the same design, they’ll not have to add more money to cater for this step.
  • Polyester Printing Process In order to start printing, the printing cylinders are loaded onto the printing machine. A transparent polyester is loaded after the printing cylinders are positioned. After that, printing can start to make sure every detail is expressed clearly.
  • Lamination Process Regarding the kind of lamination you'll employ in this process, you have two options. Either metallic polyester lamination or LD lamination are options. The high quality and durability of the final goods are guaranteed by the laminating process.
  • Roll Making Process The polyester is then placed onto a slitting machine following the lamination process. The purpose of this machinery is to make sure that the roll is completely free of extra material. By doing this, the roll is guaranteed to be smooth and free of sharp edges.
  • Pouch making Process The final step involves loading the rolls into a pouch-making machine to create the finished product. This is the last production point for the bags and pouches used in flexible packaging. They are then packaged and delivered as the finished goods to the client.

Given the processes involved in flexible packaging manufacturing, you find that different clients and manufacturers prefer using different materials. With this, you may be wondering which are the important flexible packaging materials. Here are a few that are most commonly used in the manufacturing industry:

  • High - Density Polyethylene HDPE
  • Low – Density Polyethylene LDPE
  • Linear Low – Density Polyethylene LLDPE

SPL, a leading manufacturer of flexible laminate packaging, creates packaging products using flexible packaging materials such as laminates for food packaging, rolls and pouches for agrochemical applications, plain stand - up pouches, laminates and foils, labels that wrap around, polyester laminated rolls, and rolls with multiple colors for lamination.

SPL has the capacity to manufacture around 150,000 flexible pouches per day and around 150 tonnes of flexible layered rolls per month. This capacity helps us to ensure wide range of industries are catered simultaneously.

We offer extensive options when it comes to designing the bags for customers. In-house specialised designers help to ensure that the detailing of the contents in the pouches are flawless and thus the final products are made without any re-iterations, which seems to be common in this type of bags.
