FIBC / Big Bag

FIBC / Big Bag

Introduction

A Flexible Intermediate Bulk Container or Big Bag is an industrial container made of polypropylene flexible material that is designed for storing and transporting dry, flowable products, such as sand, fertilizer, and granules of plastic.

FIBCs are either coated or uncoated, and measure around 110 cm or 45-48 inches in diameter and vary in height from 85 cm up to 250 cm (33 to 98 inches).

From food grade to UN certified, we are capable of supplying an FIBC for any industrial application.

These bags are capable of carrying a load of 500 kg to 2000 kg without failure. This capacity of FIBC bags makes them the industrial first choice for transporting loads from one place to another.

Type-A

As they are made from woven polypropylene, Type A FIBC bags offer no static protection. If you’re using one of these as an intermediate bulk container, the material inside can produce static electricity when it rubs against the bag itself. This is even more of an issue when it comes to filling and emptying bulk bags. As such, Type A FIBC bulk bags aren’t suitable for transporting or storing hazardous or combustible materials. Furthermore, you should avoid using these bulk bags in combustible or high-temperature environments.

Type-B

At first glance, Type B FIBC bags might look indistinguishable from Type A big bags. They boast a similar construction, although the material uses a lower breakdown voltage, making these bags slightly more conductive. In certain situations, Type B bags can be used as intermediate bulk containers for transporting some combustible materials, such as dry powders.

While the coating of Type B bags affords them some protection, you need to be careful when using them in certain environments. These bags can prevent propagating brush discharges from happening, but they’re not completely anti-static. Take care to ensure the outside of the bag doesn’t become contaminated with anything flammable or conductive solutions, as an outside spark can ignite these.

Type-C

FIBC Type C bags are considered conductive. The woven construction and non-conductive material ground electrostatic charges, making FIBC Type C bags suitable for hauling flammable items. They’re also suitable for use in environments where flammable gases, vapors, and dust are present.

While the gridded weave of these bulk bags makes them one of the best conductive FIBC options around, you need to be careful when using them. They’re only electrically conductive if they’re grounded, so extra measures need to be taken during filling and emptying. Clearly defined grounding points will make life easier in this regard. Type C bags also need to be regularly checked for signs of damage. Multiple elements make these bulk bags groundable, including lifting loops and reinforced seams. If any of these are compromised, a Type C FIBC bag may no longer be fit for purpose.

bag-construction
  • 4-PANELThe industry standard, 4 separate panels are sewn together along the seams with a single piece being sewn along the bottom.
  • U-PANELOne piece of fabric forms 3 sides, two opposite sides and bottom. Two additional sides are sewn into the larger piece to form the bag.
  • CIRCULAROne piece of fabric forms all 4 sides of the bag with a single piece sewn on to the bottom and top.
  • BAFFLEBaffle bags have additional pieces of fabric sewn across each corner to allow the bag to retain its square shape when filled. Baffle bags can hold up to 30% more volume per bag when utilizing the same footprint, allowing for enhanced stability when stacking and enhanced space optimization when storing and transporting. There are two varieties: Standard Baffle and Net Baffle.

lifting-option
  • CORNER LOOPEach loop is sewn into the seams in the corners of the bag.
  • CROSS CORNEREach loop is sewn into one side of the FIBC.
  • DOUBLE STEVEDORETwo straps put through each set of lift loops to allow easy moving by forklift.
  • SINGLE STEVEDOREA single strap is put through all four loops to allow lifting from multiple sides.
  • SLEEVE LIFTMade of the same woven polypropylene as the bag, they are made for use with forklifts.

filling-option
  • OPEN TOPStandard bulk bag construction with an open top, just as the name implies.
  • DUFFLE TOPLightweight top panel to provide better filling options and also a closure.
  • SPOUT TOPCylindrical spout sewn on the top panel of the bag. Works best for more specific applications.
  • SPOUT TOP w/ FLAPCylindrical spout top with additional flap for added coverage over the sealed spout.
  • CONICAL SPOUT TOPCylindrical spout top with a high filling cone for specific applications.

discharge-option
  • FLAT BOTTOMStandard bottom construction with no means of discharge.
  • DISCHARGE SPOUTStandard discharge spout for easy removal of bags contents.
  • CONICAL DISCHARGE SPOUTA conical shaped discharge spout for easy removal of bags contents.
  • DISCHARGE SPOUT w/ FLAPStandard discharge spout for easy removal of bags contents with an additional flap for extra coverage.
  • DUFFLE BOTTOMLightweight box type bottom panel that provides quick and easy discharge of bags contents.

special

  • VENTILATEDVentilated FIBC Bag is a specially designed FIBC Bag with air vents along the woven fabric on its body. This is a kind of mesh fabric that allows easy air flow to the contents inside and prevents moisture build-up.
  • CONDUCTIVEConductive bags are a type of bulk bag that are designed with conductive fabric or thread to provide static protection during the transportation and storage of flammable or combustible materials. Conductive FIBC bags are also known as Type C bags.
  • CONTAINER LINERA Container Liner Bag is a protective packaging bag designed for shipping dry bulk cargo in a safe and controlled environment. These bags are placed inside shipping containers to form a protective lining between the cargo and the container walls. Thus, the packed product is safer than in any sack or standard packaging option.
  • PLATENE BAGSPlaten bags are designed to directly replace traditional metal captains or trash cans. They are woven from polypropylene and have a very high strength and weight ratio. The size of the platen bag is larger than traditional bulk bags, and the usable capacity is 0.7-3 cubic meters.
  • GAMBO LINERA Gambo Liner is a form-shaped PE liner and allows optimum utility of the bag corner where the material does not flow freely. Gambo Big Bags serve the same purpose as Baffle Bags, but their construction is slightly different. It is designed to maximize the storage and transportation space.

SPL has a production capacity to produce up to 800 metric tonnes per month of FIBC Bags. With increasing capacity and setup, it aims high to go beyond 1000 metric tonnes soon and capture global markets.
